About Yala National Park

Y ala National Park is Sri Lanka's premier wildlife safari destination, famed for having one of the highest densities of leopards in the world. This sprawling reserve of dry woodlands, grassland, and lagoons covers nearly 1,000 square kilometers and is home to an incredible variety of animals: herds of elephants roaming to watering holes, stealthy leopards lounging on tree branches, spotted deer grazing in the dawn light, sloth bears crashing through underbrush, and crocodiles lazing on riverbanks. Over 200 bird species have been recorded here.
